In the news.... A real life weekend at Bernies.... A couple of guys went for a night on the town while lugging around their dead companion, using his credit card and atm card to have a wild night.... Secondly, I have always had issues with Spongebob Squarepants. Something is seriously wrong with that show, and I never let me kids watch it. Beyond the interesting choices of names (bikini bottom for one), and the interesting characteristics and behavior of the characters, I can't help but feel it has some hidden dark messages trying to corrupt us and our kids.... Well it seems I wasn't paranoid. A recent study proved Spongebob Squarepants makes kids dumb. Really, truly. Read more for yourself at http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_MED_SPONGEBOB_STUDY?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT Of course Nickelodeon disputed the results and the veracity of the study. This of course from a network that prides itself on educational and child development programming. Honestly the only thing I remember from Nickelodeon when I was a kid was when they slimed people.

Folks, Skynet is real and it is growing.... Watch out.... It wants to use your computer to expand its network and power....

Recently, the Children's Museum of Oakland decided to pull an exhibit entitled "A Child's view from Gaza". To see some of the samples of the works, please visit "http://on.fb.me/pPz9J4"

As you can obviously see, there is nothing objectionable about the works. Except if you are an ardent zionist bent on revising the truth and history about Palestine and the plight of Gaza amidst the Israeli blockade. As far as those Zionists are concerned, Gaza is a prison for terrorists who are illegally squatting on zionist land, and for that reason are not entitled to food, medicine, etc. So, the exhibit did not comport with their spin on truth and history, and needed to be pulled.

Would they have pulled an exhibit featuring African Americans if the KKK had objected? Would they have pulled an exhibit featuring Jews if Nazis had objected? I don't think so.

If you are as puzzled or outraged as I am, ask the museum why.... Visit http://www.freepalestinemovement.org/mocha.html

A panel has recently reviewed the costs of the recent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and surprise surprise, much of the money has been defrauded or wasted. Read more at:

$60 billion dollars wasted.

Its alot of money.

Begs the question of who benefits when we go to war?

Hmmm....
Lets see
Halliburton (Dick Cheney)
Bechtel (Donald Rumsfield)
Blackwater (click here or here)and others....

And what makes it even worse is that the contracts are not even bid out. Yes thats right, they are just strictly assigned on a discretionary basis. To the best candidates of course. No question about that one. Right?..

Read more on that one:

Did you know that Halliburton moved its headquarters to Dubai?
A company that makes billions upon billions of tax payer money for much sensitive government work. Moved out. Took their jobs out. Took themselves outside the scope of review. Don't want to pay taxes...

Hmmm....
A lot to think about.

Did you all see the Lions rip apart the Patriots last week? I am happy to say I was there in person. Lots of potential this year. Of course, the last time we went 4-0 in the preseason, we went 0-16, so lets not jinx ourselves. At least we are past the Matt Millen era. The guy was a good football player and a good football man, but a lousy team GM. Fortunately for him and unfortunately for ESPN, he is now an analyst on their network. He put his foot in his mouth once again like the good old days....

Its too bad the quarterback he mentioned goes to LSU, not Miami.

Here's to a great year for the Lions. Lets hope Stafford stays in one piece and we get to experience the best of Suh, Fairley and Company....

What to do about illegal parking.....

I like this guy...

Monday, August 08, 2011

I honestly am speechless. I am in shock. Disbelief.

Its 2011.

Its not the middle ages.

Its not the lynch mob era of the 19th and early 20th century.

Its 2011.

Yet even in 2011, racism and hatred continue to run so deep.

A group of teens went out to find the first minority they could find to attack. And after beating him, ran him over with a truck while he was staggering down the street after the beating.

I wish I could say this was a movie plot. Or it happened in another country we want to regard as backwards.

But it happened in our country just a few days ago.

You can read about it and watch it at http://us.cnn.com/2011/CRIME/08/06/mississippi.hate.crime/index.html but be forewarned, it is graphic.

When will this end?

Over the last few years, seemingly out of nowhere, a cloud has arrived and expanded to cover much of the US. This cloud brought with it the fear of a plague on its way to infest and destroy the US from within. The call was clear: we need to stop this plague now before its too late.

The plague? "creeping Shariah"

When asked, what it was or on what basis the fear is based, many of the proponents of anti Shariah measures clearly illustrate their ignorance of what it is, but stress that it is a real, legitimate fear requiring drastic action. Many speak in details about the Quran, the scripture upon which this creeping Shariah is primarily based, but when asked, have never ever read it.

While its nice to make fun of such ignorance, as has been done on political satire shows and such, the reality is such ignorant fear mongering, if allowed to persist, will only result in regrettable behavior in society, both on an individual level and on a collective level. Such as the Norway terrorist attacks. (BTW one of the big proponents of such fear, Pamela Geller, recently amended her website to remove sections of a posting from Norway which likely could have been by the perpetrator wherein the author said "We are stockpiling and caching weapons, ammunition, and food. This is going to happen fast." Read more at http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/38949_Pamela_Geller_Edits_Post_to_Conceal_Violent_Rhetoric_in_Email_from_Norway

Who is behind this campaign? Is it an evolutionary phenomenon that has just miraculously come together, thereby proving the real and valid nature of it? Or is it being cooked up in some dark laboratory by some whose intentions we can only guess at?

Well the New York Times has put together an expose on the source of the campaign. I would urge you to visit it at http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/31/us/31shariah.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all

The Jewish Daily Forward also has put together their own report on the mastermind. You can find that at http://forward.com/articles/139688/

One of the striking things from these news reports is that the proponents cite a "study" done at US mosques which evaluated the key aspects of Shariah and the threats they present. Specifically, how long the beard of the imam is. Whether he wears his watch on his right hand. How many of the congregants wear head wear. Etc. Real substantive evidence of the looming threat.

We have enough hate in this world to go around. Instead of adding more to the mix, why can't we follow the spirit of the various religious scriptures we all subscribe to, and foster peace, unity and love. As Rodney King said it best, "Why can't we all just get along"

We should support efforts to promote understanding. Such as interfaith social welfare programs helping the broader society. Like the doctors in Detroit, my birthplace, who are bridging religious lines to help those less fortunate (http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4097874,00.html#.TjTnPNMm3dU.facebook)

Historically, when such ignorance runs wild, the result is a black eye for the era in which they occurred (eg. Spanish Inquisition, Germany, etc). Do we want our era to be viewed in similar fashion?

At an international track and field event, two compatriots ran the 1500 meter race and finished 9th and 11th respectively. They approached each other to console each other on their lousy performance.... And came to blows. And even after they were separated, they continued to threaten and try to attack each other in the media center with the microphones and cameras running.

They were then both suspended by their national team.

If you don't like to be drawn to tears at a sad yet wonderful story, don't read on, but at least do take the time to support the cause at http://www.mycharitywater.org/p/campaign?campaign_id=16396

A wonderful lovely human being, only nine years old named Rachel Beckwith dedicated her birthday wish to helping those less fortunate. She wrote "On June 12th 2011, I'm turning 9. I found out that millions of people don't live to see their 5th birthday. And why? Because they didn't have access to clean, safe water so I'm celebrating my birthday like never before... I'm asking from everyone I know to donate to my campaign instead of gifts for my birthday."

The plight of those less fortunate in the world is none more apparent than with the availability of clean safe water. Few of us realize the blessing we have to have running water which is safe, clean, and even healthy and tasty. But this wonderful 9 year old did and dedicated her birthday not to getting a new video game system, barbie doll, or other material delight, but instead to addressing a human need far far away from herself.

She with her very simple initiative was able to raise $220 by her birthday, short of the $300 she had set as a goal.

Tragically, just 6 weeks after her birthday, she died as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident.

Since the story went out, thousands have been touched, and at the time of writing this, over $165,000 has been contributed to the campaign.

Wow this one is a good one....

A couple broke into a garage to steal some goods...

In the midst of their heist, I guess they got a bit frisky...

In the midst of their friskiness, I guess she got upset, and sprayed him in the face with pepper spray...

She then took the car in the garage and took off, only to drive it into a pond not too far away....

He on the otherhand put on a raincoat (ie thats all he was wearing), grabbed a bag full of the stolen goods and proceeded to walk down the street....

Could you really imagine someone making this up in the wildest of your dreams...

So Terry Jones did it. He achieved his life long goal. He burned a Quran. Boy must he be proud. All 30 or so attendees witnessed his history changing trial where he found the book he admittedly never read guilty and sentenced it to be burned(Note: since he had promised not to do it himself, he had someone else do it for him. A true man of his word).

Whats next for this monumental achiever and world changer? Perhaps he will write his new york times best selling autobiography, "from the moustache to the embers- my ignorant crusade against Islam".

So pathetic. As pathetic of course as the ensuing riots in Afghanistan, resulting in unfortunate deaths, protesting the burning of the Quran. I wish people would wise up. The terry jones and salman rushdie's of the world would be nobody's if you didn't pay attention to them.

Of course, Stephen Colbert couldn't help but amuse us regarding this travesty of news and resulting tragedy

One Philadelphia man seems to have known that. He just foreclosed on Wells Fargo... Read more at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/17/patrick-rodgers-forecloses-on-wells-fargo_n_824765.html

May God accelerate his departure from Libya, and replace him with a just government that respects the rights and will of its people.
In today's segment, ... well first, a background on red light cameras. No they are not used in seedy districts. They are used to catch images of cars violating red lights and issue tickets to those violators. In order for the ticket to be issued, a police officer has to review the recorded violation and sign the ticket for it to be issued to the vehicle owner. Well, a prolific police officer in Baltimore issued well over 2000 tickets .... since he died. Since he tragically died in a car accident, the city has issued over 2000 tickets with his signature on them... And here I thought dead people only voted, it seems they also issue citations. (As received - It is truly shocking that our government has taken an active role in blocking and banning AlJazeera as a news source. The message I guess is that the only acceptable sources of news and information are those controlled by the big wealthy corporates like Rupert Murdoch, Mortimer Zuckerman, Sun Moon etc that typically push a very strong Zionist agenda. Shouldn't that be counterbalanced? Don't we have freedom of press?)

I don't know about you all, but when looking for an unbiased, reliable, and CONSTANT news source over the past few weeks, Al Jazeera English was the only network that delivered. Al Jazeera executives have attempted to convince American cable networks to carry their channel in the past, but to no avail. Al Jazeera is now a hot international commodity following their superb coverage of the revolution and the campaign is picking up steam. YOU can help convince American networks by flooding their inboxes with already created e-mails demanding Al Jazeera English be carried on basic packages.

Go to http://english.aljazeera.net/demandaljazeera/ and on the far right enter your zip code. Choose your cable provider and on the next page enter your name and e-mail address and click send. It's that simple. You don't even have to enter your real name or e-mail address. Send one to each cable provider. Send multiple e-mails to each. We can help combat the propaganda western media has indulged in with a reliable network where 'the spin' truly stops.

**One problem I faced when I would click on Dish Network or DirecTV is it would have a city that did not correlate to the zip code I entered. I went to the text of the e-mail and edited it myself entering my correct city. But hey, the more e-mails from different cities you send out, the better.

In today's segment, a role reversal. We have become accustomed to referees, umpires, judges and other sporting officials being berated or even attacked. Well, a Brazilian soccer referee I guess got fed up. So when a player confronted him over a call, lets just say he put his foot down. Then followed it up by pulling out a knife and stabbing the player to death. Then stabbing the player's brother repeatedly.

I kid you not.

In today's segment, we had a record blizzard. So a few neighbors became very neighborly in dealing with the snow. First, a lady trespassed onto her neighbor's yard to allow her dog to relieve himself and for her to permanently borrow the shovel there. Then the owner of that property, after reviewing the surveillance tape, gets even by using his snowblower to bury her car.

In today's segment, first a rant about rampant bigatry fueled idiocy plaguing the US, then segwaying into what you can't do under dictatorship but can when free.

Oklahoma became the first state to pass a law banning Shariah, which means Islamic law. Oklahoma also very shortly thereafter became the first state to have such a law declared unconstitutional. Now there are movements in other places, including South Carolina, Texas, Nevada, Georgia, and Wyoming, trying to pass similar measures. When some of the lawmakers in such places are asked if ever Shariah was an issue, they state the obvious, NO. Then why the rush to pass such idiotic unconstitutional measures? To protect our citizenry, some say, from the scourge of Shariah.

What is it that is so scary and morbid about the Shariah? Is it that our system of law and justice is in many ways based on what the Shariah brought forth 1400 years ago?

Or is it strictly that the hate mongers would have you think that this dark cloud of Shariah is invading our nations and we must take action to prevent it?

I will let you decide. Colbert's segment on sharia previously posted is quite insightful and enjoyable.

Now to the fun section.

In Malawi, lawmakers are concerned about the behavior of their citizenry. Illicit behavior that people were fearful of engaging in under the previous dictator rule is now becoming rampant. And the lawmakers are going to put a stop to it...

In today's installment, an Indian navy frigate had it's annual "day at sea" for the families of its personnel. It went out for a quick tour and headed back to port. Thereupon, it sunk. Not due to enemy attack. Not due to terrorism. Not even due to an iceberg. It was run into by another ship, which caused a leak and a fire, and in trying to put out the fire, they accelerated the ship taking on water and it sunk.

I am sure all of those who attended "day at sea" can't wait until next year.

A recent report released by the ACLU highlights more horrendous incidents perpetuated by our military in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo. From flat out cold blooded murder to torture, the stench of Guantanamo, Bagram, and AbuGhraib just won't go away. Perhaps its because we have never come clean or taken concrete action to rectify our wrong doing?
It is truly shameful, as our nation has been for the last century the beacon of democracy and civility for the rest of the world. They used to look at us with hope, for their nations to become like us or for them to try to come to our land of opportunity. Now unfortunately our reputation is being the bully of the world. The thugs who will pursue their own interests at the cost of anyone else.
President Obama, you promised to close Guantanamo, but have been unable to for varying reasons. You promised to end the violations of our constitution and human rights, and have since changed course in shocking ways. Don't forget the principles, sentiments and platform that put you in the white house.
To read more on the story, click here
Yesterday was a sad day. The peaceful protests were attacked by civilian dressed organized armed mobs claiming to be Mubarak supporters, who were actually police, military and secret service. Some of them were even wearing their IDs. Additionally, some of the crowd were fired upon by the armed forces. Anderson Cooper of CNN and other journalists were attacked by these criminals:

For an even more graphic illustration, click here to see a police truck mercilessly plowing through people walking peacefully in the street (NOTE GRAPHIC VIDEO).

Let us hope and pray for a quick and bloodless end to the Mubarak regime. Let us also hope the world leaders, especially President Obama, stop trying to legitimize and preserve Mubarak and stand with the people of Egypt.

In listening to the news yesterday, they stated "Mubarak has served the people of Egypt for 30 years". Who has the audacity to say that? The only one he served is himself at the expense of the Egyptian people. And 30 years is far too long.

Support the will and rights of the people of Egypt. Stand against tyranny.
In today's installment, P Diddy is being sued. No, not for a night club brawl. No, not for stealing someone else's lyrics/music. No, not for taking under contract talent from another label.

He is being sued for $1 trillion dollars. Why? Well lets see where to begin:
1. He stole a poker chip from the plaintiff worth "100 zillions of dollars"?
2. He fathered the plaintiff's 23 year old son.
3. The plaintiff wants $900 billion in child support, and $100 billion in lost wages. (CHILD SUPPORT? The guy is 23 and child support is only payable (except special circumstances) up to 18. So that boils down to $50 billion per year. Nice. LOST WAGES? Hmmmm.... the average person lives to around 78 years old, and works pretty much from 18-68 lets say, so 50 years. so to have earned 100 billion in wages, you would have to average wages of $2 billion per year.... The plaintiff I am guessing is late 30's to early 40's. Unless Bill Gates or Warren Buffet had a sex change operation, I don't think anyone in the world can claim such "lost wages")
4. He is responsible for 9/11.
5. He, his ex girlfriend, and Rodney King, after knocking down the world trade center, knocked down the plaintiff's kids.

The judge denied a restraining order (if I was Diddy, I would have asked the judge to put one in effect... seriously), but set the case for a hearing.

And in today's too true you couldn't make it up if you tried, a fighting rooster got upset with its owner/manager, and killed him. Read on folks
(Please note that providing such link and humoring at it in now way endorses such horrible and repugnant activities such as cockfighting or dogfighting. Animals should be treated humanely, including being slaughtered humanely for our consumption.)

A woman suffered a hickey. Which caused a stroke. Which caused partial paralysis. REALLY? And here I thought their only downside was they were just embarassing.

Lastly, a cook added that extra sauce to his favorite customer. Don't click here if you have a weak stomach. And don't eat there anymore.

In today's in the news, some wonderful robbers took what they thought was a stash of cocaine in an unusual vase and proceeded to reap the reward of their heist.... By of course snorting it....
Unfortunately that vase was actually an urn, and that cocaine, well lets just say unless the victim had died of the world record overdose of cocaine and even then the cocaine content would be questionable, was not exactly pure.
Really, you just can't make this up....

Read on and enjoy...
