So ends the legacy of President GW Bush....
And with it one last example of his shameless tyranny. He gave Israel a pass, a nod and a wink.
Israel took full advantage of the pass given to them, and lets looks at the preliminary results:
5,000 homes destroyed
20,000 houses damaged
16 government buildings destroyed
20 mosques destroyed
80% of the crops destroyed.

1300+ killed, at least 159 of whom were children.
5400+ injured

I mean what can be said? And all GWB could do is barely blink.

Even Israelis themselves were shocked.
A Palestinian doctor who contributed to the Israeli tv affiliate of CNN throughout the ordeal himself suffered at the hands of the Israeli monsters. His own children were killed when his home was shelled. See for yourself and the reaction of the broadcasters on the Israeli tv live:

A relative of a Gazan in Chicago shared her family's experiences in an op ed in the Chicago Tribune

GWB didn't take a second look when the UN's own building was bombed by the Israelis. In a scene reminiscent of the massacre of Srebrenica, the Israelis instructed the refugees to go to the UN building for shelter, and then mercilessly slaughtered them.

They even used the banned phosphorous weapons on the UN building...

And weapons that had depleted uranium

Keep in mind these were used against a very densly populated refugee camp. A nice primer on the background and circumstances of Gaza was published as an Op Ed by the NY Times

These war crimes didn't even stir W. He had better things to do and care about. I guess packing and preparing his defense for his own future trials for his crimes. He did though want to save face a little, by leaking that he had rejected a request by Israel last year to attack Iran. Bravo....

The Wall Street Journal carried an editorial by George Bisharat about the Israeli War Crimes.

If you want on the ground reporting, the BBC is carrying a relief worker's blog from Gaza during the ordeal.

The best the Israelis could do is half apologize to the UN, and question all the reporting being done on their crimes as being fake, concocted or otherwise not true. Especially considering they had done their best to prevent media and aid workers from being in the area and covering their actions.

See eg. http://us.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/01/09/gaza.video.accusations/index.html

Robert Fisk poses the question again, Why do they hate us? in reference to the Arab and Muslim world. Isn't it obvious? You fund, supply and support such oppression, and expect everyone to love you?

In Haaretz, an Israeli paper, a columnist made the basic argument about if the roles were reversed, how would they expect to act or respond...
